Moyse Brooks Smith

SMITH Moyse Brooks Smith, age 99, passed away March 27, 2012. She had been a long-time resident of Miami, and Highlands, North Carolina, and more recently, of Jacksonville. She was born in Iron City, Georgia. Her parents, Silas and Elizabeth Brooks, husband, Cleveland O. Smith, a sister and four brothers preceded her in death. Moyse was a registered nurse. However, she and her husband owned and operated a small business in Miami for a number of years. She was a member of the Miami Shores Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was also active in her church circle. She was a life member of the Northeast Miami Woman s Club and the University of Miami Cancer Association. She is survived by her daughter, Sara Patterson, and son-in-law, Dr. Matthew C. Patterson, of Jacksonville; her granddaughter, Caroline Carroll and her husband, James Carroll, and their three sons, Alex, Mark and John, all of Burke, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
