

Najeeb was born on June 13, 1931 in Mosul, Iraq where he grew up and attended engineering school. He worked all his life in Mosul and Baghdad as a civil engineer. He was a man of faith and prayed the rosary daily along side his wife. He was called to be with the Lord on January 15th. He is preceded in death by his mother Nasima Karakoshi and father Shafik Sulaiman Polis, and his sister Suhaila.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Aliya Butris Tappouni, and their 5 daughters Eman (Fawaz) Nazo, Linda (Mazin) Aziz Bashi, Wijdan (James) Tapley, Basma (Laith) Almasraf, and Rafah (James) Nackashi. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren Nour (Hunter) Nazo Batten, Yousif Nazo, Keith Bashi, Omar Bashi, Gabrielle Tapley, Sarah (Lutfi) Almasraf Askander, Sally (Chris) Almasraf DeAngelo, Mariam Almasraf, Jalila Nackashi, and James Paul Nackashi as well as 4 great grandchildren Lily, Lucy, and Charlie Batten, and Alessio Askander.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 30th at 6 p.m. at St. Ephrem Syriac Catholic Church followed by the rosary prayer at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ephrem. Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Ephrem Syriac Catholic Church or The Foundation of Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Jacksonville.
