Nancy Schemer Wetmore, age 74, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025. Born in Miami, Florida on March 14, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Gloria and “Lefty” Schemer. She attended Miami Edison High School and graduated from the University of Maryland. Nancy had a successful 34-year career with Walmart Stores, Inc., beginning as a Personnel Manager at the Walmart Distribution Center in New Braunfels, TX. She then transferred to the home office in Bentonville, AR as Zone Personnel Manager with a focus on the West Coast Distribution Centers. After that, she served in Human Resources and Communications also in Bentonville. Nancy was set to retire on February 7, 2025. Nancy developed many meaningful friendships during her tenure with Walmart.
Nancy was fondly known as an endearing, compassionate and loyal woman, who enjoyed shopping, reading a great John Grisham novel, and loved watching all things HGTV. In November of 2024, she and her beloved husband of 45 years made the decision to move to Jacksonville, FL to be closer to family during her retirement.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Donald Wetmore, stepson Stephen W. Wetmore (Erin), stepdaughter Malisa Wetmore-Hagen (Barry), sister Sophie Schemer, sister-in-law Gwenn Schemer, brother-in-law Stephen P. Wetmore, grandchildren Sydne Vaughan (Dillon), Alexandra Wetmore, Owen Chandler, Stephanie Hagen, Jacqueline Hagen, great grandson Wyatt Vaughan, niece Jackie Schemer, and nephews Max Schemer and Mark Ryan. She was preceded in death by her brother Michael “Micky” Schemer.
