

Neil Nathan Presser, 83, passed away peacefully at home in Jacksonville, Florida on July 31, 2018. Neil was born in New York City on December 31, 1934 to Mac and Lillian Presser. In 1937, during the Great Depression, Neil’s father relocated the family to Jacksonville. Neil graduated from The Bolles School, Class of 1952, and the University of Florida in 1956 with a degree in accounting. After college, Neil served as an officer in the US Navy, completing numerous transatlantic crossings aboard the USS Mauna Loa. After his service in the Navy, Neil worked with two local CPA firms, passed the CPA exam and in 1966 cofounded Davis, Presser and LaFaye. Twenty years later, Neil and two partners founded Presser, Lahnen & Edelman PA. Neil retired in 2008 after more than 40 years in practice. Neil was widely respected in the community for his professionalism and philanthropy, and was known for his integrity, diligent work ethic, competitive spirit, courtesy, generosity and kind demeanor. Neil was active in numerous charitable endeavors, giving generously of his time, skills and talents to many organizations and committees. He served as a lifetime member of the Jacksonville Jewish Center, was a founding member of the Jewish Community Alliance, and was a member of the Board of Directors of River Garden Hebrew Home for the Aged. Neil was a founding member of the Jewish Community Foundation of Northeast Florida, serving as Treasurer, as a member of the Board of Directors and as a member of the Investment, and Finance and Audit Committees.Neil was an avid tennis player, a voracious reader, and loved classical music and the theatre. Neil possessed a wicked sense of humor and took great pleasure in sharing jokes.
Neil is survived by three daughters, whom he adored - Sheryl Presser, of New York City, Pamela Presser, of Juno Beach, Florida, and Jeri Presser, of Miami, Florida, and his ex-wife, Iris Presser, of Memphis, Tennessee. Neil also leaves behind sister- in- law Anne Presser (wife of brother Edwin, of blessed memory), nephews Stephen Presser, Jeffrey Presser, Durward “Lee” Holder III and niece Marilyn Presser.
Neil’s family is incredibly grateful to the wonderful caregivers who so lovingly looked after him in the last few years – Marva McKinnies, who has been an integral part of the family for over 25 years, Shontrese Miller, Warren and Claudia Benjamin, Kathy Worthington, Anna Wilkerson, and Dolores Hill.
A funeral service will be held at Hardage-Giddens, the Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32207 on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., with internment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 North Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32206.
