He was born on September 25, 1935 in Albany, GA. He was married to Betty Coleman Rackley, for 38 years until her death in 1998. Sunny married Ruth Douglas Rackley in 2000 and again, was happily married until her death in 2008. He then married Linda Rozier Rackley of Orlando.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas E, Rackley; daughters, Mary Kathryn “Kay” Rackley and Karyn Rackley Carter; and his grandchildren, Joshua Pate Carter, Michael Dalton Carter, and Alexa Holland Carter.
Sunny graduated from the Dental School at Emory University where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Upon graduation in 1960, he received a commission as a Lieutenant in the Navy and served as a dentist and oral surgeon until his retirement in 1986.
Sunny was an active member of Switzerland Community Church. The celebration of Sunny’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Switzerland Community Church 2179 State Rd. 13, Saint Johns, FL 32259.
