Patricia Horne Barnes died peacefully on Saturday morning, October 7, 2017, at age 92. She is survived by two sisters, Roxie Merrill and Barbara Arnold; three children, Robin, Chuck, and Patty; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
At 18, Pat married Bob Barnes, a Naval Aviator in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war they built and operated the first Holiday Inns in Jacksonville. Pat supported and benefited from Alcoholics Anonymous (San Marco) for over twenty years where she was compassionate and energetic in helping newcomers of all stripes. After Bob’s death, Pat married Woodrow “Woody” Wilson, until his death in 2010. Pat was a kind hearted volunteer at Baptist Hospital and the All Saints Thrift Shop. Known by her sisters as the “sweetest” of the Horne girls, she was a loyal friend to many, an empathetic mother and wife, and a “soft touch” for those who needed her help.
A Celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Please offer condolences at www.hardagegiddensoaklawnchapel.com
