Paul Mercurio, 52, of Jacksonville, Florida passed peacefully away on Wednesday, October 27th 2021 at home. Paul was born in Newark, NJ to Joseph and Arline Mercurio. He was predeceased by his parents, his dear sisters Mary and Joanne, and niece Doni Drysdale. Before moving to Jacksonville he resided in Piscataway, New Jersey. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1987 Metuchen, NJ and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in History at Kean University in 2003. He worked for Rutgers University before moving to Florida. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Adriane Mercurio. He is also survived by three siblings Debbie, Diane, and Joseph Mercurio, nieces and nephews; Lindsey & Megan Caputo, Kelli Parker and Joseph Mercurio, Melissa and David Kurrle, Doug and Michael Drysdale, and numerous cousins and friends.
Paul was a generous, loving, religious, and thoughtful soul. He enjoyed spending time with his family and living in New Jersey. He cherished his family and friends and always would put a smile on your face with his humor and wit. He was constantly aware of the beauty of all forms of life around him. No living creature escaped his curiosity, attention, and love. His enthusiasm and quest for knowledge, which he loved to share and discuss with all, was boundless. Paul’s hobbies were reading, video games, music, watching movies, fantasy football, and swimming with the dolphins. His favorite teams were the Rams and Yankees. He had a kind heart, always left an unforgettable impression, and will be dearly missed.
Funeral Arrangements were made at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223. A Catholic Mass will be at Church of St. Matthew the Apostle, 81 Seymour Ave Edison, NJ 08817 on Saturday December 18th at 9:30 am and he will be buried at Woodbine Cemetery 14 Maple Ave. Oceanport, NJ 07757. In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 in memory of Paul Mercurio.
