With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rafael “Ralphy” Ortiz, who departed peacefully on the morning of March 24, 2025, at the age of 67. Ralphy bravely fought through a challenging four-year battle following a surgical procedure in January 2021.
Born on January 22, 1958, in Brooklyn, New York, Rafael was the beloved son of Jose and Maria Ortiz. He is survived by his loving siblings—Carmen, Esther, Patricia, and Jose Ortiz—who will forever cherish his memory.
Ralphy was a devoted father to his daughter, Celeste Ortiz, and a proud grandfather to his four adored grandchildren: Aliyah, Jaylen, Romeo, and Onyx. His family was his greatest joy, and he always made time to lend a helping hand or share a laugh.
A man of many talents, Ralphy was a skilled mechanic, electrician, painter, and handyman. If he didn’t already know how to do something, he would take the time to learn, always eager to solve problems and improve the world around him. His resourcefulness and determination were truly inspiring.
Ralphy was also an enthusiastic sports fan, especially when it came to his beloved New York Jets. He remained loyal to his team through every season, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. His sense of humor, generosity, and ability to bring people together made him a cherished friend to many.
In his free time, Ralphy enjoyed listening to music, reminiscing about the past, and sharing his wisdom and laughter with those around him. His kindness, resilience, and warm spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Ralphy’s love and laughter will live on in our hearts forever. He will be deeply missed but will never be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Hardage-Giddens, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Fl 32223, from 2pm-6pm, to celebrate Ralphy’s life and legacy. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a truly remarkable man.
