

Raymond James Allen, 64, of St. Johns, Florida passed away peacefully and painlessly on December 5, 2021. Ray accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and lived a Christian life, and upon his terminal diagnosis he accepted his fate to be with the Lord.
Ray was born June 21, 1957, in Jacksonville, Florida to Bennie Silas Allen and Barbara Jean Ancefsky Allen. Some of his youth was spent in Florida and some in Connecticut. Ray had many interests, he played several sports including baseball, football, and ran cross country for the track team in high school. He was also artistic winning several art contests in school and wrote poetry. He played the drums in high school, learned to play piano by ear, and loved to sing. After high school Ray joined the United States Navy which took him to California where he trained in special forces. He served six years and then attended San Diego State University where he studied Journalism while working for the Veterans Administration. He was a proud veteran and always willing to help a fellow veteran. He eventually moved back to his birth town of Jacksonville and spent his career in advertising and sales, primarily in the technology sector. He met Jennifer in January of 1994 and they wed in May of 1995, enjoying each other’s company for 26 years.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Barbara Allen, and a brother Ronald Allen. He is survived by his wife Jennifer Allen, his mother-in-law Martha Phillips, brother-in-law Jeff Phillips (Diane) and a brother Kenneth Allen, as well as many uncles, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends, all dear to his heart.
As a Military Veteran, Ray’s ashes will be buried at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
His wife would like to thank Baptist South Medical Center, Community Hospice, and numerous family members, friends, and neighbors for their support during this time.
A gathering of friends for Raymond will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223, followed by a memorial service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
