Rebecca Anderson Galvan, 81, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2021, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her children holding her hands and speaking words of comfort and song.
Born in the small town of Dixie, Rebecca moved with her family from Quitman, GA to Jacksonville, FL in 1954. Rebecca graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1958 and married her husband, Ruven Galvan, in 1960. Rebecca was an intelligent, kind, and strong-willed woman who possessed a great zest for life and deep love of family. She was a dedicated wife and mother, always putting her children first, and an amazing grandmother and great-grandmother.
Rebecca spent her time volunteering at Brookview Elementary School where she later retired as a Teacher’s Aide and is still loved and remembered for her creative talents, crafts, and always having a smile and kind word for everyone.
Rebecca held a deep faith in God and was a long-time member of Glynlea Grace United Methodist Church where she spent years coordinating children’s activities, cooking Wednesday night dinners and planning church events like the Fall Festival, Petting Zoo, and the infamous and lively Bunco Nights!
Rebecca believed in laughter, forgiveness, and selfless generosity, and she reflected great kindness towards anyone she met. Rebecca’s door was always open and she wanted people to feel welcomed and loved whenever in her home.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her husband Ruven Galvan, parents Troy H. and Rachel Anderson, and sister Jean Moats.
