RP was born in Long Beach California in October 2,1937, the son of Norman Brooks & Netta Servetti. He served in the Army as a paratrooper and spent most of his service time in Germany. RP later worked for JEA and retired in 1999 after 37 years of service. He was married for over 36 years to Judy Brooks. They have 4 children, 9 grandsons, and 2 great-grandsons. RP was an avid Florida Gator fan, passing this enthusiasm to his children and grandchildren. In his community, he was known as the “mayor” with an extra chair available for anyone that wished to stop and visit. RP embraced life and those of us who shared in it.
With his passing, we lost an irreplaceable member of our family. Left to honor his legacy is his wife Judy along with their children Richard, Patty (Dave), Michael, & Melissa (Robert). RP also leaves 9 grandsons- Brandon, Bradley, Brady, Brandon, Chris, Andrew, Kevin, Brooks and Aidan. His great grandsons are Levi & Zayne. RP is predeceased by his sister Norma. His living siblings are Coral and Robert. His extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws are many.
RP was extremely fond of cruising, so in lieu of any memorial service, we are honoring his wish to have his ashes sprinkled on his favorite Caribbean islands. Some of those ashes may even find their way to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, home of his beloved Gators, and where he spent many a football weekend with his sons and grandsons.
