Richard was born August 27, 1972 to Thaddeus Miller and Pauline Miller-Hopewell. He attended St. Matthews Catholic School and Bishop Kenny High School, graduating in 1991. He was an outstanding athlete and excelled in soccer. He played on the varsity soccer team all four years of high school and at the age of 15 he was selected to play for the Olympic Development soccer team where he had the opportunity to travel and play in Germany and Austria.
Soon after graduation, he began his career in the mortgage insurance business and has been employed with the same company, National General Lender Services for 27 years. He made a huge impact with the company and was a great leader and mentor.
In 2002, Richard married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Brenda Ossi Miller. They were blessed with three beautiful children, Thaddeus, Ava and Richie. Richard loved nothing more than spending his time with family and friends. He enjoyed coaching his kids in sports, taking trips to Universal, spending time on the lake in Fort Mill, S.C., attending Gator games and simply hosting BBQs as the family’s “grill master”. He also was a huge Star Wars fan and enjoyed watching Star Wars movies and collecting memorabilia.
Rich had a great sense of humor and always had people laughing. He was the life of the party. He was loyal and devoted to family and friends and was extremely generous; you could always count on him to be there in time of need. Richard’s zest for life was overflowing and plentiful. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Richard is preceded in death by his father, Thaddeus Miller, brother, Wayne Miller, as well as his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife Brenda and children Thaddeus, Ava and Richie, mother, Pauline Miller-Hopewell (Derrick), sister, Beverly Rauco (Jim), sister-in-law Susan Miller, in-laws Jack and Maysoon Ossi, brother-in-law Joe Ossi (Nellie), sister-in-law Heather O’Keefe (Drew), sister-in-law Amy Hodge (Tony), brother-in-law Jack Ossi (Matilda) and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
