Born on May 4, 1959, in Columbus, Mississippi, near the Alabama border, he was the son of Edger and Lily Francis (Smith) Prisock. Driven by a deep sense of duty, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1988.
On October 3, 2020, Richard married Ba Thi (Tuy) DeVore and embraced life with her and her family—he was a cherished part of the lives of Tuy’s daughter Samantha, her husband Tristan Mitchell, and their daughter Tabitha.
A skilled driver and tradesman in the construction industry, Richard approached every job with pride. He was best known for his unwavering love of Alabama football—fall Saturdays were sacred, and he cheered on the Crimson Tide with enthusiasm. Roll Tide! He also shared a special bond with his dog, Saban, who rarely left his side, especially on game days.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Tuy; her children and their families: Samantha and Tristan Mitchell with daughter Tabitha, Scott and Heather DeVore with daughters Ava and Eden, and Steve and Elizabeth DeVore with children Mariah and Jordan. He is also survived by his sister Debbie Prisock and her husband, his dear Aunt Betty Putnam, and his loyal dog, Saban. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edger and Lily Francis Prisock.
A memorial burial service will be held on May 23, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
