
Rita Marie Rountree Baker passed away November 3, 2021. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida September 29, 1932, to parents Rozella and Asia Rountree. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School, she married and began her career in the jewelry business, owing both Ramsay Jewelers and Riverplace Jewelers. Forever active in the community, she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Florida Boppers, Inc, First Coast Shag Club, and was a founding member of Club Savoy. Rita was a Christian attending the Church of Christ.
Predeceased by her mother and father, husbands Wilton Ramsay and James Baker, and step-daughter, Kathleen Ramsay, Rita is survived by daughters, Linda LiBrandi (John), Karen Lewis (Steve), and son, Andy Sweat (Mary). She is also survived by 8 step-children, Sandra Linebarger, Wilton Ramsay Jr., Bill Ramsay, Pat Forbess, Lisa Davidson, Joel Ramsay, and Chris Ramsay, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Dec 5th, from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Ortega River Club, 4165 Lakeside Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32210. Prior to the Celebration will be a private interment at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
