Robert Henry Davis

Robert Henry Davis, 79, passed away January 12, 2017, at home surrounded by his family and loving pets. Bob was born in Long Beach, CA on June 14, 1937 to Omer and Irene Davis. At an early age after the death of his father he moved to Rockford, TN with his mother and sister, Myrna.

Following his graduation from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. degree in Physical Education, Bob moved to Jacksonville and spent the next 35 years teaching physical education and coaching basketball at Jeff Davis Junior High School. During that time he also received his M.A. degree at Ole Miss. After his official retirement he went on to help coach boys’ and girls’ basketball at Ed White High School.

Bob is survived by his wife Joyce, his sons and their wives Andrew; Tad and Anne Marie; Jack and Erin; and his grandchildren Stella, Henry, Lawrence and Skyler.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday January 18 at 11:00 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home at 729 Edgewood Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Bob’s memory be honored by memorial donations to A. S. P. C. A.
