Robert Ross graduated in 1974 from Sandalwood High School. He apprenticed under GrassMasters for 5 years and owned and operated Ross Turf and Ornamental for over 30 years. He loved his family and friends and there wasn’t a job or task too difficult for Robert to tackle. If you needed him to help with anything, he was there, fixing your car, or a plumbing problem or electrical issues. He wasn’t afraid to get up on the roof and help you clean up after a storm. Robert had a “can-do” attitude and loved helping others.
Robert had a passion for life and fun! He never showed up without something fun to do, like fireworks, even if it wasn’t a holiday, and rockets, anything that would propel upward! He loved to have fun and play, even work was fun around Robert. Family was important to Robert and he would come to all the gatherings, even at his brother’s in-laws. He loved his dogs and he worked for a vet when he was in high school. He had an innate ability to care for animals when they were hurt or sick, and he took in a few strays. He did everything with gusto and learned to do it well. Robert loved the outdoors, the woods, lakes, the mountains and ocean. He took up diving and loved lobster fishing in the Keys. He was always active never sat idle. He wasn’t a worrier and worked through any challenges that came his way. We will all miss his laugh, big grin, hugs, and his big personality! Next time you shoot off any fireworks, do one in memory of Rob, he’ll be right there with you!
Robert was preceded by his parents Herbert and Mary Ross. Surviving family members: Jacksonville, FL, his daughter Blair Ross, siblings Margie White (Mike), Carlsbad, CA; John Ross (Connie), Savannah, GA; and Scott Ross of Jacksonville Beach, FL, along with many nieces, a nephew and great nieces and nephews.
