

Roger was born in Manassas, Georgia, on November 28, 1944. He moved to Jacksonville in 1965. Roger was a successful businessman owning many businesses throughout his career that included Patten Distributors Automotive Warehouse and co-owner of Jax Raceways from 1981 to 2005. Roger's love of racing involved countless trips to NASCAR races throughout the year with ‘The Boys’: Jeff, Mike, Rocky, Uncle Don, Keith, Jeffrey, Brandon, Roy, and Michael along with the NHRA Gatornationals. He was also a member of many organizations like Safe Harbor Boys Home, Kiwanis, Jacksonville Motorsports Hall of Fame and The Jacksonville Fair Association to name a few. Roger was also a very active member of Normandy Park Baptist Church serving as a Yoke Fellow and Treasurer.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Esley and Thelma Godbee, and his son Jeff. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandi, daughters, Melissa (Kerri), Ashley, Kathy (Robert), and daughter-in-law Penny, son Keith (Jonie), grandsons Jeffrey (Gabby), and DJ, granddaughters Ashton (great grandson due in March 2026), Samantha and Ashley Goble. Brothers, Paul, Larry (Gwen), and Roy (Katie), many nieces and nephews and his cat Henry.
Services will be at Normandy Park Baptist Church, 7050 Normandy Blvd, on Saturday, November 22nd at 11 am with visitation at 10 am. A private burial will be held on Sunday, November 23rd in Hagan, GA.
