

Ronald Karlton Mason (Ron) was very proud of his roots in Gastonia, North Carolina where he was born on January 10, 1937 to Karlton and Ruth Mason. He looked back fondly on his childhood growing up in the neighborhood with all his cousins.
After a few moves, the family settled in Jacksonville, where he continued his education at Ortega School. He ultimately graduated from Robert E. Lee High School where he was a member of Demolay and Alpha Hi-Y, and played football on the varsity team.
Following his graduation from Lee, Ron attended Florida State University where he graduated with a degree in business. He was also a proud member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Ron married Susan Korst from Tallahassee in June of 1959. In December 1959 he graduated from the 25th Officer Candidate Course at the Marine Corps Schools, Quantico, Va.
Following his discharge from the Marines, Ron began his career with International Harvester, now Navistar, where he worked in sales, management and in the corporate office.
Ron was a member of Riverside Presbyterian where he served as a deacon and also delivered Meals On Wheels.
Ron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat, his sons - Ron jr., Britt (Elizabeth), and Bill (Stacey); his grandchildren Karley Hartman (Jack), Haley, William and Samantha, and his great granddaughter, Mason.
He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Susan his daughter-in-law Deborah and his granddaughter Susan.
Ron’s memorial service will be held at Riverside Presbyterian Church, 849 Park Street at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025
