Rose Lynn was born November 5, 1935, in Jacksonville, the beloved eldest daughter of Julius and Fannie Levin. She was the only person in her family to graduate college, having entered the University of Florida at age 16. She was a devoted teacher, spending the bulk of her career teaching elementary school at the Jacksonville Jewish Center Day School. She touched myriad young lives and is remembered fondly by many.
Rose Lynn was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother. She treasured her family above all else. She is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Herb Plotkin, her children Lori Blum (Barry), Jay (Cheryl), and Rick (Jennifer), and her nine grandchildren Jeffrey (Zara), Brian, and Mallory Blum, Sara, Shaina (Josh), and Joey (Abby) Plotkin, and Jared, Julia and Ethan Plotkin. She also has two great grandchildre, Artie and Ellie Blum.
A voracious reader, Rose Lynn began reading early and read everything she could get her hands on until just before her passing. She was commonly seen at River Garden with her face in a book. She took great pride in her Judaism and honored its many traditions. She enjoyed music, theater and sports, and she and Herb loved to travel to places around the world. Rose Lynn is perhaps best remembered for her warm, lovely smile, her quiet unassuming nature, and her pleasant, loving and optimistic manner.
Funeral services will be held at the New Center Cemetery on Tuesday, 12/30, at 10 AM. A shiva minyan will follow at River Garden at 5:15 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the River Garden Hebrew Home or the Galinsky Fund at the Jacksonville Jewish Center in memory of Rose Lynn.
Rose Lynn's loving spirit will remain forever in our hearts. May her memory always be for a blessing.
