Ruth S. Barrows

Ruth M. Shanahan-Barrows, 79, passed away on October 15, 2013. Born in Uxbridge, MA to the late William J. and Emma C. Shanahan. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend.

She was an active member of San Juan del Rio Catholic Church where she served lovingly alongside her husband, Deacon Stan, supporting Catholic ministries and serving the Lord. Ruth loved helping people, spending time with her family, and traveling the world.

Ruth is survived by her beloved sister Pauline Byrne; children, Mike Barrows (Rita), Dottie Barrows Butler (Stan), Patti Barrows Stafford (John), Linda Barrows Toucey (Keith), and Nancy Barrows Waldron (David); grandchildren, Kirsten, Ryan, Keith, Bradley, Megan, Christopher, Kristina, Matthew, Tommy, Phillip, and Jessica; great grandchildren, Hailey, Logan, Emma, Nick, Evan, Adam, Kai, and Ella; along with many other family members and friends.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm Friday, October 18 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin with Rosary Prayers at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, October 19 in San Juan del Rio Catholic Church, 1718 State Rd. 13, Saint Johns, FL 32259 with Father John Tetlow officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to VITAS Hospice or to San Juan del Rio Family Center Building Fund.
