Ruth Poole Boyd Becker

Ruth Poole (Bunnie) passed away on November 4, 2011. Born September 27, 1925, Bunnie was originally from Greenville, South Carolina. She moved to Jacksonville after marrying Charles T. Boyd, Jr. in 1947. They had a wonderful life together until his death in 1991. She later married Jack Becker. Bunnie always said that she was blessed to have two loving husbands.

Over her lifetime, Bunnie was active in the community and volunteered for numerous organizations. She loved to play tennis and host small dinner parties. She was a dedicated member of the Ortega United Methodist Church. Bunnie was fortunate to have two husbands who liked to travel and visited five of the seven continents.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years E. Jack Becker; sons Charles T. Boyd, III (Janie) and William E. Boyd (Reidy); grandsons Charlie, Matt, Reid and Robert; granddaughters Christie Martin (Trey) and Allison; and a great-granddaughter of three weeks, Allie Martin. She is also survived by her sister, Blanche Mann of Greenville, S.C. and seven nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Gloria Brown, Belisha Anthony, Lois Spatcher and Janice Thomas for their tireless and caring help. Our gratitude is beyond words.

Following a private burial at Oaklawn Cemetery, a memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Ortega United Methodist Church.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice, Ortega United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
