Ruth was a loving caring wife, mother and devout Christian, participating in many church leadership roles through the years. Among the many roles, she was President of the Baptist Women's Group, taught Sunday School, and chaired and participated in Vacation Bible School. Her passion was sewing, crocheting, quilting and needlepoint. Ruth was a very creative, kind and gentle woman who enjoyed making clothes for her daughters, crocheting lap blankets for skilled nursing facility residents, and making blankets for newborn babies. Ruth is remembered as a devoted wife and mother while establishing God first in her life.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Luther Lee Payton Jr. of 56 years. She is survived by her eldest daughter Leigh Ann Stoudt and her husband Scott Stoudt; youngest daughter Kelli Cameron and her husband Kevin Cameron; grandson Payton Stoudt and granddaughter Hannah Stoudt.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
