With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of S. Colt Lloyd, 37, of Jacksonville, FL. Colt left us far too soon, but he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
A Jacksonville native, Colt was the beloved son of Suzanne Gross and the late Mark Lloyd, who passed away in 2016. He was a devoted husband to Lindsey Lloyd, whom he married in 2012, and a dedicated father to their son, Carter Lloyd, 8, who was the absolute light of his life. Colt earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florida State College at Jacksonville and built a respected career at Crawford Company, where he was admired for his strong work ethic and quick-witted humor.
A man of generosity, dedication, and loyalty, Colt poured his heart into volunteer work with his family for the English Springer Rescue of America and remained steadfast in his loyalty to his favorite football teams—the Jacksonville Jaguars and LSU Tigers. Above all, though, he treasured time with his family.
Colt was a true family man, cherishing every moment with his son, Carter. Whether out on the boat, admiring classic cars at shows, or skeet shooting at the range, he found joy in sharing his passions with his son. He also had a deep love for his family property in Springfield, Louisiana, where he spent much of his childhood working alongside his father and beloved ‘Paw-Paw’ while making memories with 'Maw-Maw' and his cousins. Those experiences shaped his strong work ethic, love for the outdoors, and deep appreciation for family.
Colt’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He was often the reason friends came together. We often teased him about being the sun—the center of a growing circle of friends who naturally gravitated around him over the years.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing his infectious laugh, adventurous spirit, and boundless love will live on through Carter, his family, and the many lives he touched. His memory will forever bring warmth to our hearts, laughter to our souls, and a reminder to embrace life with love, adventure, and a good sense of humor—just as he did.
A memorial service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery on February 22nd at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at Seasons 52 (5096 Big Island Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32246) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friends and loved ones are invited to share stories, laughter, and memories over small appetizers in a space filled with love and remembrance—just as Colt would have wanted.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Carter’s college fund.
