Salwa B. Rukab passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 21, 2011. Salwa was born May 14, 1922 in the town of Ramallah, Palestine where she married and began a family with her beloved late husband, Bulous Rukab. In 1960, they moved with their children to Jacksonville, FL. The wife and mother was adored by her family and friends for her generosity, resilient spirit, and love of singing. Salwa was a founding member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church and a member of the Ramallah American Club of Jacksonville. Salwa is survived by her sisters Naimeh Khoury , Najla Balat and Nuha Sackallah and her brother, Essa Cook. She leaves behind her loving children Paul Rukab (Lee), Nabeel Rukab (Ghada), Victor Rukab, Rita Harb (Charlie), Renda Ajluni (Bill), and Rocky Rukab (Rana), as well as 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. As she parts from this life, Salwa is reunited with her dear Bulous. The family will hold a viewing on Monday, January 24, from 6-7pm and the trisagion service will immediately follow with Father Kamal Al-Rahil presiding. The funeral will be held Tuesday, January 25 at 10am. Both services will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 6300 Bowden Road. Arrangements by Greenlawn Funeral Home.
