

Sharon K. Bell died Thursday, September 7, 2017 of lung cancer after a month long fight. She was the only child born in Savannah, GA on September 17, 1925 to Willie Mae (Rhodes) and Miles Luther Kinard. After graduating from Savannah High School, she was a bookkeeper at Liberty Bank in Savannah where she met 2nd Lt. Foster F. Bell of Ellabell, GA. They were married shortly thereafter in 1946 and they had one son, Richard Allen and daughter, Sherri Lynn whom they adopted in 1963. She was preceded in death by her only grandson, Evan Patrick Bell, and her parents, losing her father when she was 7 and her mother in 1988. After they were married the Bells did two tours of duty in Germany and upon returning home were stationed in Albuquerque, NM where Capt. Bell retired in 1957. After retiring they came home to Savannah, later moving to Tallahassee and then to Jacksonville, living in the same home since 1964. After Foster passed away in 1987, Sharon traveled a lot, going to Greece, Russia, Scandinavia, Ireland, France, Central and South America, China, Alaska, Nova Scotia and the Pacific Coast, plus numerous short trips in the US. She was very active in Parkwood Baptist Church and loved to cross-stitch and gardening. She especially loved her roses. She will be interred 12:00 noon Monday, Sept. 18 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah after a brief graveside service. Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 23, in Parkwood Baptist Church with Rev. Larry R. Weaver officiating.
