

Sharon Marie Feldkamp was born on April 24, 1939 and died on July 10, 2025. She grew up in Louisville, Kentucky with parents Dorothy Frances Seiler Feldkamp and William James Feldkamp, Sr., her sister Shirley Ann Feldkamp Lowman, and her brother Wm (Bill) James Feldkamp, Jr. All of whom predeceased her.
Surviving family members include Shirley’s Children: Mark Lowman (with wife, Bradlea), Laura Lowman Murray (with husband, Chris) and Lisa Lowman Herndon (with husband, Jimmy). The following generation includes; Mark’s children: Sydney, Conner and Ryan; Laura’s children: Kyle, Miles, and Caitlan; Lisa’s daughter, Maggie Herndon; and Bill’s children: David Feldkamp (with wife Jen) and Patricia Feldkamp Lakes with her son Travis. The surviving four members of Sharon’s “Golden Girls” family include Betsy Raiford, Lois Gray, Kay Gilmour and Pat Boudreau.
Sharon lived in Louisville while going to Elementary and High School and then College at Spaulding University in Louisville. She left college to join the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth near Bardstown, KY. She continued her necessary course work to earn a Bachelor's Degree in science from Spaulding while a novitiate in the convent. Later, she earned a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University. During her three years in the convent, she taught courses on Hospital Laboratory science and managementfor college students at the Nazareth Academy (linked to Spaulding College).
In 1971, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she spent the remainder of her life. During that time, she worked in leadership roles in the laboratories at Baptist Hospital and Memorial Hospital. Before entering retirement, she worked for Anthem Insurance and in the office of Baker Gilmour Cardiovascular Institute. Her retirement years were spent enjoying travel around the USA and Canada as well as in several countries abroad in Africa, Europe, and South America. She was a prolific reader, an excellent bridge player, and a marvelous cook. She enjoyed working for charitable entities like Habitat for Humanity,
Meals on Wheels, and Volunteers in Medicine, associated with the Duval County Medical Society and Jacksonville Public Health Department. She had a prodigious memory and was a loyal friend who kept in touch with friends Near and Far.
A memorial mass for Sharon will be held at Assumption Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on August 12. There will be a reception following the service at the home of the Golden Girls at 1347 Morier Street featuring a spread of Dunkin Donuts at Sharon’s request.
