Shirley F Wright

Shirley Fitzgerald Wright, age 87, longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. She was born in Stuarts Draft, Virginia, daughter of the late Thomas E. Fitzgerald, Sr. and Sue E. Fitzgerald. She graduated from Wilson Memorial High School, class of 1955, and then Mary Balwin College. Shirley was employed by CSX Railroad for over 25 years. She was married to Meredith L. Wright for over 45 years. He preceded her in death in 2009. She was also preceded in death by both parents and several nephews and cousins.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Thomas E. Fitzgerald, Jr. of Iowa Park, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley’s wish was to be cremated, and her ashes be buried next to her husband and parents at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Virginia. A gravesite memorial service will be held at a later date. It is requested that any memorials in the form of donations be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
