Steve was born July 10, 1969 in Jacksonville, FL to Robert Alder and Kay Dixon Alder. He married the love of his life, Laura Patterson, in 2001, at Disney World. He was the proud father of Kristin, 29, and Charles, 24.
A high school graduate, Steve developed an innate affinity for technology into a career in IT that expanded to move him up the ranks of technicians, Linux administrators, and architects in ever more prestigious companies culminating in the technology arm of CSX Transportation. The challenges and vagaries of his career intrigued his genius intellect and satisfied his love of puzzles. Only his devotion to his family trumped his fascination with Disney World, the Florida Gators and competitive shooting.
He was predeceased by his mother Kay and brother Robert. He is survived by his wife Laura, daughter Kristin, son Charles, in-laws Lewis and Rita Patterson, father Robert, and sister Melody.
