

Susan Jane Forchette passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 5, 2024, after an extended illness. Susan was born on July 20, 1955 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and later moved to Perry, Georgia with her family. She was a 1973 graduate of Perry High School and she later pursued her academic ambitions at the University of South Alabama, where she earned a bachelor's degree in political science and an MBA.
On December 27, 1978, she married Michael Forchette. Susan and Mike began dating while attending Macon Junior College, beginning a beautiful and enduring journey together that lasted until her passing. Their lives together created great experiences and memories in Kodiak, Alaska; Mobile, Alabama; Detroit, Michigan; Savannah, Georgia; Perry, Georgia; and ultimately Jacksonville, Florida. Their love was a constant source of joy and strength in their lives.
Susan's professional life was marked by commitment and excellence. Beginning her civil service career as an Outstanding Scholar in 2000, she dedicated 24 years to the federal government as a contracting officer for the United States Air Force and Navy. Her colleagues admired her unwavering dedication and devotion to her work and to her country.
Beyond her career, Susan shared a deep love for life with her beloved husband Mike. Susan enjoyed yoga, bunko, gardening, book clubs, music festivals, and her four cherished cats. Her moments shared with Mike, family and friends were often accompanied by laughter and a respectful dose of Chardonnay. She will be fondly remembered by all who know her.
Susan is survived by her husband Mike, her brother Jeff Bloodworth and his wife Norma, and her in-laws Donnie and Jacque Forchette, and Mark and Addie-Marie Forchette. She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Betty Bloodworth. Her enthusiastic laugh, boundless energy, legacy of kindness, joy, and dedication will be forever cherished by her family and friends.
A service of love and honor for Susan will be held on Saturday, May 18th, at 3:00 p.m. at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home at 940 Cesery Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32211. All who were touched by Susan’s gentle spirit are invited to join in celebrating her life and the remarkable impact she made on those around her.
Susan will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery with her immediate family in attendance at a later date.
