It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Louise Laumer Kwaak, 63, who entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2025, from a thoracic aortic aneurysm. She passed peacefully, surrounded by dear friends and family, as she was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Susan was born on October 28, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Throughout her life, she lived in many places across the United States before settling in Jacksonville, Florida, where she joyfully built a family of her own.
She found happiness in music, gardening, puzzles, painting, and crafts. Susan’s kindness and selflessness were evident in the way she cooked and shared meals with family, friends, and neighbors; opened her home to those in need of shelter; offered comfort through her warm embraces; and faithfully lifted others up in daily prayer.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband, John Richard “J.R.” Kwaak; her daughters, Sarah Sutton and husband Constantino Dominguez, along with their children, and Holly Hammond and husband Daniel (Graham); her stepson, Jonathan (Kenny) Kwaak and wife Laura, along with their children; her stepfather, James Woodford, and his wife Judy; her siblings, Cristy, Diane, Joyce, and Robert, and their families; and her beloved cousin, Jan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gail, and her youngest sister, Eileen.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support received during this time of sorrow.
Susan will be remembered for her love, humor, acceptance, generosity, and unwavering faith. Her legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of all who were blessed to know her.
A visitation for Susan will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
