On November 20, 2024, Terry Lee Bagby died at the Community Hospice Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Florida. Terry was born in Greensburg, Kentucky, to parents Truman Bagby and Lorena Judd Bagby. He was seventy-seven years old.
Terry grew up in Greensburg and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1965 and from Campbellsville College with a degree in Business Administration in 1969. He worked for Standard Oil of Kentucky in Louisville, for Eastern Seaboard Petroleum in Jacksonville, Florida, and for Steuart Petroleum in Washington, D.C. He once owned an Aamco Transmissions shop in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and later became Chief Financial Officer for National PET Scan in Jacksonville.
Bass fishing was his favorite activity. He loved being on the water at daylight and didn't stop fishing until dark. He practiced catch and release fishing, so his lunkers are preserved in photos and stories. Terry also loved Pontiacs. His father was a Pontiac mechanic, and Terry learned to love cars in general and Pontiacs in particular, especially his 1964 GTO. In the past few years, he took up benchrest shooting and became quite proficient in Unlimited Class competitions. Throughout his life, there was a Boxer dog by his side.
Terry married his high school sweetheart, Matilda Gumm, in 1965. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, son Gabe Allen Bagby and wife Amanda Lewis Bagby of St. Augustine, Florida, son Lee Garrett Bagby and wife Cheryl Profetto Bagby of Bradenton, Florida, and granddaughters Leela Jade Bagby, Alli Jean Bagby and Jessi Tru Bagby. Terry leaves behind several cousins and close friend, Ross Robous and wife Elizabeth Roubos.
