

Tom passed away in his home peacefully after a prolonged illness on March 20, 2025, at the age of 85. Tom was born on October 9, 1939, to Thomas and Marie Gallagher Burke in Philadelphia, PA. He had spent most of his life in Philadelphia and then moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2008 with his beloved wife.
He graduated from North Catholic High School and went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in accounting from La Salle University. He worked tirelessly and passionately in the savings and loan industry, and to further his career he earned a master’s degree in finance. After retiring, he went on to part-time teaching at La Salle University and Philadelphia University.
Tom was a proud Phillies and Eagles fan and took pride in always tuning in to support his teams. He continued his love for sports while coaching his son in baseball and basketball. He enjoyed going out for relaxing dinners filled with family and lively conversation. Tom also cherished every opportunity to go on vacation with family whether to the Jersey Shore, Florida or Arizona. Tom was a compassionate and loving man who was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He will be missed dearly.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marie; brother, Jimmy Burke; and two of his nieces, Dorothy and Marguerite.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann; children, Thomas, Matthew (Jennifer), and Anne Marie (Michael); and grandchildren, Angela, Thomas, Ella, Jack, Evan, Matthew, Michael, and Ryan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Burke; one niece; and two nephews.
An upcoming celebration of his legacy will be held at a later date.
