

He was born on November 19, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Thomas James Heliger, Sr. and Dorothy Katherine Heliger (Hettick). Thomas proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, attaining the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career of 30 years with United Parcel Service (UPS), where he worked as an Operational District Manager.
Throughout his life, Thomas enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, hunting, and woodworking. Over the course of eight decades, he built lasting relationships and touched the lives of many through his kindness, reliability, and steady presence. He made his home in St. Johns, Florida, where he appreciated the simple pleasures of life and cherished time spent with family. Those who knew him remember a man of integrity who valued hard work and treated others with genuine respect.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas James Heliger, Sr. and Dorothy Katherine Heliger. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Janis (Carver) Heliger; his children, Michael (Hannah) Heliger of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and Karen (Ryan) Mollica of St. Johns, Florida; his four grandchildren, Emma, Grace, Madison, and Connor; and his three siblings, Gerald (Patricia) Heliger, Robert (LouAnn) Heliger, and Joan Heliger.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223, US, on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 1:00PM with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Thomas’ memory.
