Timmy was born on June 18, 1985 in Jacksonville, Florida to Dr. John and Gerrie Obi. He attended Bishop Kenny High School (’99-‘03) before attending college at the University of Florida where he was an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Timmy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction in 2008 and a Master of Science in Management in 2009. He volunteered for the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps starting in winter 2001. Timmy worked as a business relationship manager at JP Morgan Chase & Co. Timmy was happily married to Elizabeth Saggau Obi who was his partner in life for eleven years and mother to their three sons Davis Christopher (6), Timothy “Kyle” (4), and Brooks Patrick (2).
Timmy deeply loved his family and friends. He enjoyed surfing, fishing, scuba diving and traveling. He had a bright, energetic spirit and a passion for life. Never taking a moment or another person for granted, Timmy was always learning something new and sharing that knowledge with others; making someone laugh or helping someone in need. To his friends and family, Timmy is known by his extraordinary empathy and thoughtful, considerate nature. Friends will never forget Timmy being silly and telling jokes, finding a good deal, laughing so hard that his eyes welled up, dancing like a lunatic, cooking a memorable meal or mixing a “damn good drink.”
Timmy is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his sons, Davis, Kyle and Brooks. Dr. John and Gerrie Obi, Dr. Ryan Obi (Courtney), Morgan Gerges (Dr. Mark), Shane Obi and many other family members.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach on Saturday, July 31 at 1 p.m.
