

Van Edward Schoonmaker, 64, of Jacksonville, passed away on August 13, 2011 at his home. Van was born on August 26, 1946 in Chicago, IL to the late Edward Paige Schoonmaker and Edythe Quinn-Walker Schoonmaker. Van served in the United States Navy, and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was the owner of VAB Collision Center in Jacksonville, and he also was a Teacher. Van was a member of the Knights of Columbus, was the Past President of the Southside Businessman’s Club and Past President of the Executive Association. Van is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl. Additional survivors include his son, Steven (Kellie) Schoonmaker; his 2 daughters, Kristin Dufour and Alicia Shepard; his brother, Lee (Brenda) Schoonmaker; and his 8 grandchildren, Nicole, Ryan, Josh, Sam, Emma, Zoe, Allie, and Sydney. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 17th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 18th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.
