
BOWMAN………William “Bill” Burrell Bowman, 73, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital after a lengthy illness. Bill was born in Taylorsville, NC on December 20, 1934. He was a graduate of Taylorsville High School and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. During his career, Bill worked for Florida National Bank for 22 years and retired from M. D. Moody & Sons after several years. Mr. Bowman is preceded in death by his parents, Pansie Lou Pennell and Smith LeRoy Bowman; and a brother, Ray Allen Bowman. Affectionately known by his friends as Bill, he is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Elaine Barnes Bowman; a daughter, Paula Bush and son-in-law Mitch of Jacksonville, Florida; three brothers, Thurston Bowman (Helen), J.D. Bowman (Kathryn), and Ralph Bowman (Mary Ann); and three sisters, Evelyn Bowman, Louise Crouch, and Kay Bowman. One of Bill’s favorite pastimes was being involved in the work of the Safety Council and helping raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 24 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Corey - Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville. The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 25. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to The National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1051 N.W. 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
