

GIRARD William Cecil Girard, Col. USAF, Ret., 87, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010 after a brief illness. Mr. Girard was born in Jacksonville on October 11, 1922 to Adelard and Grace Stage Girard. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Ohio State University where he earned his Masters degree and the University of North Dakota. He was a retired U. S. Air Force Colonel with 31 years of service flying Bombers during W.W.II and Helicopters in Korea and Viet Nam. He was a 32 Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a long time Red Cross Volunteer, a volunteer at MOSH (Museum of Science & History) and enjoyed all Trains, large or the models, and while in North Dakota he greatly enjoyed Square Dancing. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was pre deceased by his loving wife of 62 years Mary B. Girard and his son William B. Girard Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Priester and Vickie Girard; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, loving friends, and his Boston terrier “Dottie”, who will all miss him dearly. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Arlington Park Cemetery with Rev. Al Hicks officiating. Full Air Force Honors will follow the service at the graveside.
