William Stephen Gordon

GORDON-William Stephen Gordon (Will ) died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 31,2014. He was born September 9, 1954 in Brooklyn , New York. He was baptized in Holy Family Catholic Church, Hicksville, NY, before relocating to Jacksonville in 1971, when his father was transferred with his job. He graduated from SandalwoodHigh School and FloridaJunior College in Respiratory Therapy. He was a Registered Respiratory Therapist at St. Vincents, employed there since 1974. He worked in the bronchoscopy lab at St. Vincents, working closely with the Pulmonologists who were not only his supervising physicians, but his loyal friends. He was an integral part of the St. Vincents family and will be missed tremendously.  He loved spending time with his family and friends who are all extremely saddened by his premature death. His passions were hiking, mountain biking, camping, cooking on his Weber and spending time at his N.GA cabin.  He was an avid follower of the New York Yankees, FloridaState and Notre Dame football. He will be remembered for his unending loyalty to his family and friends, dry sense of humor and zest for life and was always available for those who needed him. He was the best husband, son, brother, brother- in -law and friend ever and will be forever missed. Will was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Gordon and is survived by his wife, Bobbie Anding; parents, Bill and Anne Gordon; sister, Jill Lefave (Steve); brother, Tom; sister, Ann Schiefer, Bob Schiefer, their children, Cassidy and Colton; brother, Michael (Julie) and their children, Patrick, William and Mikey; sister-in-law, Becky Anding; his dogs, Luke and Cody and his wonderful neighbors, the Hutchins family. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 am Thursday, June 5, 2014, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32210. A reception in Will’s honor will be held immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorials would graciously be accepted by Safe Animal Shelter, 2913 County Rd 220, Middleburg, Florida 32068.
