My father passed away in 2018, and we've been slowly going through old photos.  I found this one from a trip he and my mom made to Jamaica in 1964 along with Bill and Kay, and though your family might like to have it.

A wonderful man that will truly be missed. I worked for the Town of Lake Lure, and once a year Bill would have 3 or 4 of us girls from work over for lunch. We heard so many good stories there. And him and George together…what a hoot. 
I loved sharing in his life. 

I was pastor of Chimney Rock Baptist Church and Bill attended our lakeside services during the summers while in Lake Lure. I got to know him through this brother George and appreciated his quietness and faithfulness to our services. He always said he was a hurricane traveler leaving Florida when that season came and returning when it was over! Our prayers to you during the time of sorrow, sadness -knowing your loved one knew our precious Lord and Savior. Blessings, Gene Daggerhart

We will forever cherish the years of wonderful memories made with Uncle Bill and family at his lake house on Lake Lure in NC. 
Uncle Bill, like us, loved our Mom’s banana pudding and our Dad loved escaping to Lake Lure for a weekend to hang out and enjoy lazy days on the lake with Uncle Bill. He showed us love and hospitality, but more important he left his legacy on our hearts. 

"Doing Nothing Very Well" was Bill's report on his activities of the day during our frequent communication.  To which, I'd respond - "That is a very rare and enviable skillset - which few have mastered" In truth, Bill always stayed busy - if not physically... he seemed to be mentally processing throughout his awake hours. The notion that he sat back and happily "did nothing" is a reflection of his character - his faith - and being at peace. That shouldn't mean that he had lost his feistiness - a good verbal exchange could be around the corner - and his occasional comment "poor baby!" was a friendly shake to bring the recipient back to reality. We will certainly miss him and celebrate the blessing of his friendship. Our condolences to the Pressley family and all his friends who he touched with his love.

Meredith, Sherrill and Billy, Karen and I send our heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family on the loss of your father. Bill has been a dear friend of ours for many, many years. During our business careers we initially competed against each other and  ultimately ended up working together until his retirement. Bill was a true "Southern Gentlemen". While we enjoyed several successful business deals while working together, my fondest memories have to be the recent years Karen and I spent staying with him at his Lake Lure cabin in the fall. Bill was a gracious host and he always made us feel like "family", not guests. Every year he took us on a tour around the greater Lake Lure area both by car and by boat. We got to know many of his friends as well as his brother George during these visits. Karen and I also made an "annual pilgrimage to Hendersonville" with Bill to renew his cell phone contract. Bill shared the most fascinating stories about his childhood in North Carolina and how Lake Lure had changed through the years. Bill loved our country and was a proud veteran of the Marine Corps. He also loved his alma mater, Clemson University. He was so proud of Clemson's National Championships and how the college had grown and prospered since his enrollment. But, most of all, Bill loved his family. He always talked about being a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather. Karen and I feel blessed to have shared so much time with Bill. We feel our lives are better for having known him. He is finally reunited with Kay, the love of his life. God bless you all.

These are just a few “titles” I bestowed on my great friend Bill. Even though 9 years senior Bill and I go back as far as I can remember growing up on Lake Lure as “seasonal” residents. Over the past 20 years we became closer and enjoyed many wonderful times together. For a long time we would make it back to his place after Lakeside church on Sunday and whip up possibly the best egg sandwich ever created. We solved many problems of the day eating those sandwiches on Bill’s front porch. And his annual Fall picnic was always a great ending to a lake season. 
I will miss you my friend. Life at the lake will never be the same. May you bask in the glory of His light and rejoice with Kay, George and Barbara. 

May God give you comfort in the coming days and be by your side in your time of grief. Sherrill our prayers are with you and all the family 

My name is Sean Humphries and I am the Chief of the Lake Lure Police Department.  I started at the lake as a lake officer in 2000.  Bill was one of the first persons I met at the lake after he called 911 because of a boat being operated recklessly near his boat house.  I responded and hit it off immediately with Bill.  Over the years on patrol any time I would pass Bills boat house I would see him waving me down, always offering a cold drink.  I would stop and visit, were we would talk and laugh.  When my wife got pregnant in 2003 it was announced in a town news letter.  Shortly after that announcement Bill called me to his lake house.  He gave me a child's Shakespeare Rod still in the package.  He told when my child is born to bring him or her by anytime to his boathouse dock to fish.  This act of kindness touched my heart more than words can express.  Getting on the Lake and driving down the channel will never be the same again without seeing his smiling face welcoming me in.  Bill Pressely was an angel on earth, now he is getting his wings in Heaven.
