

and grew up in West Helena, Arkansas. She attended Helena-West Helena High School where she was a member of the marching band
and a majorette. She was also a Phillips County, AR Rodeo Queen. She attended the University of Arkansas, Ole Miss, Memphis State and
Jacksonville University, majoring in accounting.
Willie was married to Victor Hyde, Jr., in 1955. She had three children, Whit (Karen), Stan (Suzette) and Amy all residing in Jacksonville. She had three granddaughters, Whitley, Emily Walker, and Krystale. She has three cousins, Jim, Delaine, and Bob Morgan, all of Arkansas. Willie is also survived by her husband of 60 years, Victor Hyde, Jr. Willie was preceded in death by parents Doff and Lessie Horton Byerley.
In 1968 Willie opened Avondale Children’s Shop. This business later became known as Willie’s. For over 45 years she dressed several generations of children from the Jacksonville area and beyond. Willie was well known for her sense of style and fashion. She designed and produced much of the clothing sold in her shop. She retired two years ago, at the age of 80. Her daughter Amy now owns and manages the business. Willie also owned and managed several apartment buildings in Riverside. She was a very successful business woman.
Willie was a member of several charitable and social organizations including, St. Vincent’s Gray Ladies, Ortega School PTA President, WJCT Auction Chair, Stokesia Garden Club, Seminole Canoe Club, Ponte Vedra Inn and Club, and the Avondale Merchants’ Association. Willie also enjoyed time with her book club friends. More recently, she made great new friends playing Bridge.
Willie will be buried with a graveside service at the family plot in Maple Hill Cemetery, Helena, AR. Methodist Pastor, Mike Wilkie presiding.
Arrangements will be by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, AR. A date has not yet been set.
The family is very grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Willie during her stay. Additional thanks to Community Hospice. The family is extremely grateful to the many friends who have offered their love and support during this trying time.
