Winifred Joyce Conner

Winifred Joyce Conner (Joyce) passed away peacefully in Jacksonville on Monday September 11, 2023, at the age of 100. She was born in Melbourne Australia on February 2,1923 to the late Sidney Edward Cowley and Rosaline (Roberts) Cowley. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Farris Conner, and her brother Noel Cowley.

In 1943 she met her future husband Farris Conner, a United States Marine who along with his many fellow countrymen were stationed in Melbourne, Australia prior to their deployment to the Guadalcanal.

Joyce and Farris married on September 11,1943 and were married for 30 years until his death in 1973.

Joyce worked as a representative for the Rubbermaid Corporation for 25 years until her retirement at the age of 65.

She is survived by her brother Melvin Cowley (Australia) and numerous nieces and nephews in both the USA and Australia.

A funeral service honoring Joyce's memory will be held on Wednesday September 20, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior in the chapel at Oaklawn Dignity Memorial funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Farris at Oaklawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a donation in her honor may be made to the Shriners Hospital or to a Charity of your choice.
