Charles William Cavenaugh Sr.

Charles William (Billy) Cavenaugh, Sr. 87. made his journey to his eternal home on December 31, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones. Billy served his country in the US Army and received accommodations while serving. He held management positions in retail businesses throughout North Carolina. He loved hunting and fishing. His dogs were his second love and fishing was his sport. His love for his children and grandchildren was evident to all.

He was preceded in death by his father Willie Nicholson Cavenaugh, his mother Junie Mills Cavenaugh; two brothers, Bart Cavenaugh and Byron Ronnie Cavenaugh; three sisters, Velma Freer, Dorothy Shively, Eloise Mathis; two children, Wanda Kay Temple and Gregory Alan Cavenaugh and one grandchild Michael Cunningham.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Lou Cavenaugh of Richlands, two daughters, Karen Morgan and husband Keith of Jacksonville, Sheryl Cunningham and husband John of Jacksonville, son Charles Cavenaugh and wife Darrella of Clayton. Sisters, Sara Russ of Beulaville, Ruth Mabee of Jacksonville, Anne Thomas of Jacksonville, Jimmy Cavanaugh(Carrie) of Watha and Barbara Chaucer(Russell) of Jacksonville. 12 grandchildren , 28 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 3 at Johnson Funeral Home in Jacksonville The family will receive friends from 12-2 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
