He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville with Father Ernest Ruede presiding.

He is survived by his wife: Nancy Murphy; sons: Shawn Murphy of Albany, NY, Steven Forsythe of Baltimore, MD; daughter: Jennifer Forsythe of Baltimore, MD; brothers: James Murphy of Baltimore, MD, Jerry Murphy of Anaheim, Cal.; sister: Marlene Telak of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren: Sean Klock, Tyler Murphy, Dylan Murphy, Brittany Kniesley, Justin Forsythe, Devon Kitzmiller.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 3, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Crippled Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
