He was born March 2, 1936 in Waterbury, Ct., to the late James V. Daversa, Sr. and Carmella Gofferdo Daversa.
He was class president of his senior class at Crosby High School in Waterbury, graduating in 1954. He joined the US Army on December 7, 1954 after a short time with Connecticut Light and Power.
He served in the US Army for 21 years stationed at nine different Posts, one tour in Korea, one tour in Germany, two tours in Vietnam and retired while stationed at Ft. Jackson, SC.
During his military years he received many awards and medals. Three Bronze Stars were among the achievements. He was also enrolled in some form of higher education, graduating from the University of Nebraska under the “Boot Strap” program before his retirement.
After retirement he spent time in management for the Eckerd Drug Company, The Governor’s Office, Division of Equal Opportunity, in Columbia, SC. Other positions included apartment management and security at Foxwood Casino in Connecticut.
This man, that we all loved and admired, was meticulous in everything that he did. One could say that he was “Eat up with OCD”. He was knowledgeable in so many areas and we all benefited greatly from his council.
He had no “hurry” and always had time to talk to anyone and everyone. There was always quite a thought process involved in upcoming projects along with many drawings.
He showed great interest and support in his family’s activities and interests. He was definitely there for all of us if we wanted him to be.
He is survived by his loving wife; Mary Hanson Daversa; brother; Michael Lewis Daversa and his wife Cathy. He has been a father to five daughters, three sons, a grandfather to fourteen, a great grandfather to thirty four, and a husband to former wife Dorothy Eaton Daversa.
Growing up in a large Italian family afforded him the joy of many aunts, uncles, and cousins. We all are going to miss him dearly. He was our hero.
