Joyce Ann Wooldridge

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Earl (Willie) Wooldridge, Two daughters Renee W. Dowell and husband Mark of Apex, Tawnja W. Gentry and husband Terry of Jacksonville. One brother, Robert Peterson of Kalamazoo, MI, and one sister, Irene Sernek of Lee Summit, MO. Four grandchildren, Natasha Carr and husband Jacob of Whidbey Island, WA, Frederick Dowell of Friday Harbor, WA, Kaila Gentry-Alvarado and husband Bo of Yorktown, VA, and Ryan Dowell of Raleigh, NC.

A Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home Jacksonville with Rev. Brian Young officiating.Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 1:00pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Joyce was born in Wisconsin and raised on a dairy farm. She met Willie on a blind date in Milwaukee, WI and 6 weeks later they were married. Together they traveled the world. Living in Maine, Texas, where they had their two daughters. Next they moved to France, Germany, Duluth MN, Japan, South Carolina and finally retiring in Jacksonville. Joyce was a loving wife and homemaker, a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, was active in Eastern Stars and Amaranth, and also a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls. She was fun-loving, caring and giving. She never hesitated to invite people to her home. She will be missed and was loved greatly.
