A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Jacksonville. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Rex is survived by his wife Jacqueline Mathis; one son, Rex Mathis Jr. and daughter Serina K. Heath; his brother, Danny Mathis of Richlands; four Grandchildren, Casey Rex Mathis, Victoria Rose Heath, Jason Alan Mathis and Jeremy Wayne Heath; and two great grandchildren, Nathanial Joseph Mathis and Warren James Mathis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be forwarded to Johnson Funeral Home, 2685 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, NC 28546.
