Mrs. Elaine Taramangos Carter

Elaine Taramangos Carter, 70, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016, at her residence. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from noon until 2 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 2 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Jess West will officiate. Elaine was a graduate of Sheffield High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from University of North Alabama. She taught in the Walker County Board of Education School system for 27 years. Elaine loved her students and taught several generations of families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Carter; parents, Louis and Cora Taramangos; sister, Gaye Dixon; and brother, George Taramangos. She is survived by her sister, Sophia Taramangos Zumbro of Augusta, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jon Michael Zumbro, Jared Zumbro, Iain Rhodes, Aaron Rhodes, Nick Taramangos and Peter Stavredes. Honorary pallbearers will be Koleas Zumbro and George Zumbro IV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Elaine’s name to the American Cancer Society, Suite C 2132 McFarland Blvd. East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
