Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, June 20. 2023 from 1 until 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home, with burial at Boldo Cemetery. David Clark with officiate.
Gary loved the Lord with all his heart and his family with his son, daughter-in-law and grandkids being the light of his life, and hunting. He loved his hunting buddies. He loved our trips together and all the fun we had, He loved football both Alabama and Pro. He was a coal miner for 40 years and a Staff Sergeant in the National Guard for 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Ostella Akins.
He is survived by his wife of 51 ½ years, Cecilia Akins; son, Lee Akins (Emily); grandchildren, Karlee Akins and Brantlee Akins; sister, Rita Chambless (Melvin)
