

George Harmon Patridge of Jasper, Alabama, age 84, passed away on November 7, 2015. Services will be held Tuesday, November 10th at 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Jasper. Visitation will be held from 11am – 1pm prior to the service with burial at Massey Cemetery, McCalla. He was preceded in death by his parents Harmon L. and Helen Davis Patridge; 2 brothers Edward L. and Joseph A. Patridge. He is survived by his wife Martha Lindsey Patridge and 3 children; Linda Patridge Dunlap of Birmingham, John (Danielle) Patridge of Denver, CO, and Steve Patridge of Tuscaloosa; 6 grandchildren; Andrew Dunlap, Birmingham, Hannah Patridge, New York, NY, Elianna Patridge, Denver; Olivia Patridge, Meredith Patridge and Evan Patridge of Tuscaloosa; sister Ann Pierson and sisters in law Lane Patridge and Sylvia (Jim) Gardner and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Patridge was a native of Brent, AL and graduated from Bibb County High School, had a B.S. degree from Jacksonville State University and a Master’s degree in music from The University of Alabama. He served four years in the Air Force, two of which were served in North Africa and Germany. He was the band director at Walker High School where he taught for 24 years and shared his love of music, especially jazz, with multiple generations of students. He played trumpet professionally for a number of years with the Ted Galloway Orchestra of Birmingham. He continued actively playing in The Guys and Dolls Dixieland band in the Birmingham area with longtime friends until recently. He worked for Byars Realty for many years after his retirement as a music educator. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jasper, serving as a choir director, Sunday School teacher, Deacon and Elder.
