James Roy Woods

James R. Woods, 72, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

James R. Woods “Jim” lived most of his life in Jasper, AL. He was a graduate of Walker High School and Samford University. Jim had a contagious laugh and brought much joy to family and friends. Jim forever adored Sherri, his childhood sweetheart and wife of 52 years. He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved the ocean, boating, and fishing. He was full of life, and lived life to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Charles Woods of Jasper; parents, James L. Woods and Louies Woods of Jasper; brother Joseph A. Woods of Atlanta, GA; and in laws, Lora M. Gilliland of Jasper, and Debra K. Gilliland of Nashville, TN.

He is survived by his spouse, Sharyn G. Woods; children, James Adams Woods(Rachel), their children Nathan and Kylie of Ocala, FL, Jamie W. Goodman(Russ) and their child Jack of Dothan, AL., and Sam Woods of Jacksonville, FL.; grandchildren, James Allen Chase Woods and Allison Hayes; in laws, Charles W. Gilliland(Jackie), Kristie Woods, and Sandy Woods.
